Airport TOURS

Barkley Regional Airport Tours

We happily offer tours of the airport to groups of all kinds, up to about 30 people for safety and security reasons.  We can also customize the tour for your needs and time constraints.

The tour begins with a look in-front of and behind-the-scenes of our brand-new terminal. Highlights include the secure area, baggage screening, TSA, local ar and more.

Weather permitting, we can let them experience one of our unique airport fire trucks, that are larger and much different than traditional fire trucks. In addition to experiencing the fire truck, participants can learn in greater detail the how firefighting at an airport is different in addition to learning about other jobs the fire fighters do and see more of the equipment we have on hand at the airport.

The most popular stop on any tour is the air traffic control tower, operated by Midwest ATC. One the roughly five story climb is made, participants will get a 360-degree view of Barkley Regional Airport, while also getting to witness the tower at work. If available, our knowledgeable air traffic controllers will answer your questions.

There is also the possibility to tour our private aviation terminal, Midwest Aviation, with prior arrangement, to see the different aircraft that are based here.

Depending on Contour’s flight schedule, your schedule and the weather, participants can see the arrival, turnaround and departure of Contour flights to and from Charlotte up-close and see things that they might not get to see when they travel.
